A Fashion Statement

fashion statement.jpgOne of my Lutheran friends sent this to me with the following caption:

"The man on the left, wearing a fabulous vintage chiffon-lined Dior gold lame gown over a silk Vera Wang empire waisted tulle cocktail dress, accessorized with a 3-foot beaded peaked House of Whoville hat, along with the ruby slippers that Judy Garland wore in The Wizard of Oz, is worried that The Da Vinci Code might make the Roman Catholic Church look foolish."

I wish that the clothes were the real problem of the Pope. If that were the case, we will be jumping and singing thanking God for someone who is a little bit extravagant, but who upholds the Word of God as the only authority who binds our very conciences.

Sadly, it is not so. To focus on the external without seeing what truly divide us, it is to miss the point, So, I don't care what clothes he wears because that IS NOT THE ISSUE. The real issue is the GOSPEL OF SALVATION. This is the heart of the matter AND NOTHING ALSE.

Thank you

It's not just his clothes that are troubling.

It's those eyes. Jesus said the eye is the lamp of the body. If those don't say "evil," I don't know what does. At least the last Pope had friendly eyes in public. This one doesn't even try. Yup, I'm with Martin Luther on the identity of the antichrist.
