What books did it for you?

I thought it might be interesting to poll my readers to see what book (or books) finally pushed you over the edge so that you cried "uncle" and embraced Reformed theology.

These are five books that were very instrumental in my conversion to Reformed theology from Arminianism and dispensationalism back in 1979-80--although what really did it was Donald Gray Barnhouse's tape series on TULIP.  My list includes Warfield's Inspiration and Authority of the Bible and Plan of Salvation, Bavinck's Our Reasonable Faith, Murray's Redemption Accomplished and Applied, and Berkhof's Systematic Theology.

So, I am looking for those books (not tapes or videos) which were most instrumental in your own journey to Calvinism.  Leave your list in the comments section below.  This could be fun!

Well the book that sealed the deal was The Reformed Doctrine of Predestination, which I started reading in the section on "objections" and then was so impressed that I couldn't put it down until I read the whole book. It's a shame that you don't want us to mention videos, because then I'd tell you that the videos from crosstv.com are what introduced me to Calvinism and got me thinking about it. But since you don't want videos, I won't mention them. Or, wait . . . I think I just did :-)
The book of Ephesians kicked me over the edge. I was teaching through it and had some real problems with what Paul was saying - dead in trespasses and sins, et al. I had been reading a lot of Francis Schaeffer at the time and for some reason things gelled for me. The thing that caused everything to make sense for me was the Apologetics Group's "Amazing Grace - The History and Theology of Calvinism." So I bought myself a "Reformation Study Bible" and haven't looked back.
