Who Said That?

question%20mark.jpgWho said that?

"I fully adhere to the fundamental tenets of the Christian faith for myself and my ministry, but as an American, I respect other paths to God."

You know the drill!  Leave your guesses in the comments section below.  Please no google searches!

I'm guessing Bobby "Robert" Schuller.

Please tell me nobody actually said this who was in a position of ministry. At least no one who claims to have a remote understanding of scripture.

Has to be George Bush... Not bashing him, but sounds like something he would say...

Billy Graham or Franklin Graham

Billy Graham. I think he retracted or gave more definition what he meant by this, though.

billy.

another famous (notorious?) billy was once asked, "how do you know if you are a republican or democrat?" to which he responded, "if you see the 60s as generally beneficial you are a democrat; if generally a hinderance, you are a republican."

as grossly over simplified as it may be, the above quote shows how asking if billy graham is "generally beneficial or a hinderance" to christianity in the modern era seperates confessionalists from evangelicals (or evangelicals who, for whatever reasons, want to be considered "conservative" in the theological sense of that word). the former group answers in the latter, and the latter group answers in the former.

If not Graham, I have to go with Schuller. Sadly there is a huge roster of evangelical "leaders" who could have come up with this nonsense.
