Who Said That?

"I was raised in a Baptist household, I went to a Catholic school, but the ideas of the Bible are 98 percent the same ideas of Scientology, 98 percent the same ideas of Hinduism and Buddhism."

You know the drill.  Please leave your guess in the comments section below. The answer will be posted in one week.  To see past editions of "Who Said That?" click on the "Who Said That?" icon below.

Tom Cruise is scientology all the way so the nod to the other religions doesn't sound quite right. I don't really know, but I'll go with Will Smith since it's less obvious. Whoever it is though, is being absurd, about what the scriptures teach.

Someone totally clueless as to God's Word. I believe I did hear WIll Smith in some interview make a statement like that. If he was raised Baptist and can make such an obviously ludicrous statement, then the Baptist church better get back to basics in its Bible studies. I can't believe how many Hollywood wonders are being sucked into that cult.

John Yeazel That is not funny.

Sorry to hear about Will Smith joining Tom Cruise's Scientology.

Timinator,

What do you mean that is not funny? I got tired of guessing wrong on Who Said That so I had to revert to the old gag. Plus I get the feeling that people are tired of my long and drawn out guesses. I still learn a lot on this site and there is alot of worthwhile dialog that takes place- even though I think it has toned down some lately. Someone needs to interject some thoughtful controversy to stir up debate once again. How about discussing the need for a new confession for today which deals with some of the theological controversies we are faced with. We could also hash out the differences between the Reformed and Lutherans in the new confession. This would then distance ourselves from the growth and emerging Church's which dominate the theological landscape today.

We could put Zrim as head of the committee to write the new confession.

Yeah, that's right I'm picking a fight.

From what Scott Clark wrote about in his book it is always a worthwhile project to determine what theological controvesies need to be brought up for today. In one of the classes he teaches a major project is for the students to determine what the major issues are today and what would be needed to be included in a new confession that has not been dealt with in an old confession. Also, could there be more clarity added to any of the issues dealt with in an older confession?

I'm surprised he said this. Doesn't his son go to that Christian school that Joe Montana and Wayne Gretzgy kids go too? I know it is in California somewhere and probably is one of the better schools in the state. Does anyone know anything about the school? What denomination is affiliated with the school? Does the school have a statement of faith? I probably will not get an answer from anyone but it is worth a try I guess. If Will Smith's kid goes there and Will actually made this statement something seems a bit out of kilter here.
