Who Said That?

"If we give `gospel' a broader definition . . .  it is possible to say that all Scripture is gospel.  But it is similarly possible to say that all Scripture is law, worldview, ethical guidance, etc."

You know the drill.  Leave your guess in the comments section below.  Remember the point is guess, and not cheat to find the answer (through a google search).  Answer to follow next week.

Folks, I understand what you are saying in these comments... and I was rather surprised by the tone of Frame's reply. I appreciate the work of both Horton and Frame, so I'm not trying to defend "my" guy or anything. Frame certainly nitpicked a bit too much for my liking (though I think he has some good points).

However, this quote that you guys are quoting is merely a footnote in an essay!!!!! And I think some of you are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Elsewhere in the review Frame did say that "law" and "gospel" are not synonymous. And he also says that he would "define the distinction between them pretty much as Horton does".

I'm not saying that you shouldn't critique Frame's reply, I'm just saying that the extreme comments here (like him being on acid, confused or leading to not needed Christ's work) are really unhelpful and also making this into more than what it is.

Just my 2 cents.

I was sitting under an OPC 'Shepherd' (pun intended) who said, "The Law is the Gospel." I promptly left that OPC. This is confusion. One has to wonder why this is allowed to go on in Reformed Churches.
