Mike Horton Interviews Sam Solomon

WHI Logo.jpgBe sure to listen to Mike Horton's interview with Sam Solomon, a former professor of Shariah Law, who converted from Islam to Christianity.  This is a very powerful and important interview.  It is the first of two parts.  Click here: The White Horse Inn: Know What You Believe & Why You Believe It

I thought the interview was an earopener.

One thing I'd like to see addressed from converts to Christianity from iSlam is this: since we now know that it's considered a proper thing for a muslim to lie to unbelievers for the sake of iSlam. How do we know that Sam Solomon is telling us the truth? Not trying to be impune anyone's integrity, but it seems like this is a hot button here. Someone can accuse people like Sam Solomon of lying while they defend a "peaceful" iSlam.

I personally think that history has indicted iSlam as a war like religion. I think it's very important to present this truth in an accessable way to as many people as possible.

I really enjoyed this show because it introduced some great apologetics that I recently used while speaking with my father. For some reason Islam and the current war was brought up in our conversation and I was able to recall some good insight gained from this Sam Solomon interview. Just another reason why we should "Know What We Believe and Why We Believe It."

Mattumanu,

We know he's not lying because he insulted Mohammed right there on the radio. He's also defending Christianity and condemning Islam. If he were practicing taqiyya, he'd be telling us the things we want to hear about Islam, i.e. it's a religion of peace.

I thought it was very insightful how he outlined how muslims were backdooring sharia law into british prisons. Great interview, I look forward to the second part.

Walt,

Very good, I hadn't actually thought about the fact that he had insulted the prophet. That's exactly what I mean, we need proof that he's not a liar to defend against people who say he is.

I have to say though, Sam Solomon has to be most brave to go on record like this against iSlam. He must certainly have a Fatwah out on him. Would that more of us had his fortitude.

I'm beginning to believe that presenting a charitable view of Islam is misleading and inaccurate. It neither squares with the history of Islam nor it's religious texts. Presenting a good view of Islam in order to be charitable doesn't alert Christians into the proper level of alarm and awareness they should have regarding the propagation of this "religion". We need to hear from Sam Solomon much more often.

yeah, because alarmism is always the best way to go and serves wisdom best really. it's the sort of wisdom that allows one to suggest that islam is not, in point of fact, a religion.

Zrim,

Here you go again with your defense of Islam. I think Sam Solomon, a convert from Islam, is more qualified to present it's beliefs than you. He presented what you'd call "an alarmist view." I think I'll listen to him sooner than you, especially he had lived amongst them. Did you even listen to his WHI interview?

Cordially,

zrim,

One more thing I forgot to add: Sam Solomon said explicitly that Islam is not a religion. He said it was an all-encompassing system of jurisprudence, economics, education, politics, and religious beliefs. I'm beginning to wonder, do you even know anything about Islam?

i head the first interview with San Solomon and was inpressed with his insights. I look forward to the second intrview.

I listened to part 2 twice today... It opens with a discussion about the Christian heaven versus Islam's paradise. It's described that everything that you could ever want is waiting for those who submit to Allah, not only virgins, but rivers of alcohol and young boys. If this is the reward that is offered for submitting to Allah, then I can see why so many would want to join up.

There was also a discussion concerning the similarities between the kind of semi-pelagian american evangelicalism here in the states and Islam. On the cardinal points of semi pelagianism and islam there is so little difference that it's not surprising to see christians converting... not much of a change is required, and besides, there's virgins and youngs boys...

Painful to listen to... and more than a bit disturbing.

Young boys for the gay Muslims. Robert Spencer pointed this out in his book also.

I heard the interview and found it enlightening and troubling. I have heard some of these things already from Robert Morey.

Does anyone have any opinions about Robert Morey's approach to Islam and overall? I have found him to be helpful but also embarrasing at times. At times he has been crude and quarrelsome. This seems to be part of his personality.

defending islam...hmmm, no, that doesn't seem like a correct interpretation...oh, wait, that takes nuance...i forgot, you "don't do nuance."

i am not presenting views on islam so i guess you don't have to worry about me doing so.

i have just begun to listen to some of it.

no, i don't know much about islam and i don't care to. i doubt that solomon is the final word on what is or is not a religion. common sense begs that to suggest that christianity is the only religion because it's true to be just bad thinking. many here, including me, have referred to islam as a false *religion*...are we all wrong to do so? if so, what should we call it? i suppose kantian philosophy is not a philosophy because it isn't christian, eh?

You live in Michigan, don't you? You definitely need to start learning about Islam.

Islam isn't a religion in the sense that Westerners define religion. It's a system of submission to Allah.

I have studied religion for so many years, and with all respect, I don’t believe what Sam’s saying. I don’t see how you insult somebody like Mohammed when he:
(1) Freed the slaves
(2) Great the most and best justice in the whole world
(3) Taught people how to respect and appreciate each other
(4) And most importantly, came up with the (QURNA) where each word of it is a miracle.

I believe that when a person starts insulting others to prove his point, this person can’t not be trusted.

As a Catholic Christian I was very impressed with Sam Solomon, however we need more courageous converts to Christianity who are willnig to speak up for Christ and his truth. I just wish that Muslim converts in Islamic countries would be willing to share their new found faith in Christ, without having a 'fatwa' pronounced on them. In a wastern society people have a choice to choose their own Religion and will not be killed for converting to Islam. The evidence speaks for itself Christians do not always behave the way one should, however The Gospels do not teach this, but on the other hand violence is condoned in Islamic theology.

Fritz,

Why not just post your thoughts honestly rather than lying in order to get people to go to your misguided web site?
