"Our government makes no sense unless it is founded on a deeply felt religious faith--and I don't care what it is."

I believe it was President Dwight Eisenhower who said that.

Beat me to it. And I liked Ike, too. Darn shame.

Me, I said that! No wait, I read that. Sorry.

I think one of the founding fathers said something like that, you know, George Washington or Quincy Adams or Ronald Reagan. One of them.

Yes, I like that Ronald Reagan is a founding father. :)
Too funny!

That has to be Ike, the only President to be baptized while in office (if I remember my facts correctly).

If it's Dennis Prager, he would probably alter his answer a bit for only "good" religion. The little I know of Ike would lead me to make him a possible guess. It could also be a number of choices from our goverment and political experts.

I also think some people making guesses are not being serious or are simply tossing names of people they don't like.

Alberto, no!

Tim, I think it would be safe to say that Ronald Regan is not a founding father. I mean he wasn't he like four president's ago?

I think it was Ike

Ike as a founding father? That's pretty funny too. It can't be earlier than the 20th Century because of the English usage. Probably mid-20th. That would be Ike.

Ike immediately came to mind. Not that at the time I was aware of it (as an early teen living out of this country) ... but in subsequent reading about him a comment very much along these lines registered in my mind.

It was President Eisenhower.
