I used to say it when I was a Baptist!

Don't get me wrong, I am all for preaching on the wrath of God from the pulpit. But my old preacher treated the entire congregation as unregenerate, godless pagans (i.e. goats). He had long standing church members up at the altar every week rededicating themselves out fear they were not 'real' Christians.

But I am sure this quote is from someone in the 'seeker sensitive' church growth movement that wants to soft serve the gospel. My guess would also be Ricky W.

Mmmm. . Three votes for Homer. I have not seen it yet, but I am assuming this a quote form the movie?

Haven't seen the movie. It's from one of the earlier episodes.

I recollect it may be Homer.

A suggested tome for every well-equipped Reformed library:

I've read that.

That's the only "Gospel According to ..."
book that I've actually ever read. I enjoyed it and went back and watched a lot of episodes again as result.

I've no clue who said it, but as long as we're making references to funny "Gospel According To..." books, one of my friends read this and found it quite funny.

!!

Sounds like Marge tries to drag Homer to my old Bible church....which is now a typical mega-church.

Funny how the natural evolution of hellfire and brimstone is to eventually soft-peddle sin, or even re-define it as personal dysfunction. If my old church is any measure, most mega's are just former Bible church's doing what any burned-over district logically does to find relief, exchanging one form of un-Gospel for another.
