Some Interesting Links . . .

Links.jpgA number of you (who know that I am an avid Yankees fan who can't wait for opening day) have asked me about the possibility of the Yanks getting Johan Santana in a trade.  It won't happen.  It makes no fiscal sense for the Yanks.  Santana will either stay a Twin this year, or will be traded to the Mets--not the Yanks or the Red Sox.  Click here: Santana not worth the tariff - MLB - Yahoo! Sports

Some dunderhead in the Solicitor General's office thinks "unrestricted" gun-ownership constitutes a "threat" to public safety and that it is "reasonable" to restrict such private ownership at the government's pleasure.  Here's yet another reason for me to hate the nanny state.  As long as I can own a gun (or two) I am a free man.  Click here: WorldNetDaily: National firearms ban 'reasonable'?

This will come as no surprise.  The Episcopal Church is making a concerted effort to remove any remaining conservative bishops.  We all know how tolerant theological liberals can be!  Click here: Episcopal Headquarters Takes Steps to Remove Conservative Bishops | Christianity Today | A Magazine of Evangelical

I see I'm not the only one who is still nervous about Mike Huckabee's confusion of the two kingdoms (using the pulpit to promote his presidential candidacy).  His use of identity politics to carve out an evangelical voting block unto himself is pretty cynical.  Oh well, looks like his candidacy will be over soon enough.  Click here: Between Pulpit and Podium, Huckabee Straddles Fine Line - New York Times

Once a liberal colleague of my father was complaining to him that he didn't have a problem with people having 1 or 2 guns, but why in the world did anyone need 6 or even 7 guns. To that my dad started laughing and said, 'Sorry to tell you this, but I have 20 guns!'

The Anglican mess is even worse than just the fact that they are purging the ranks. The indictments are being made in secret. That is simply rotten and lets everyone know that this is not on the level.

Another mainline denomination bites the dust. The Anglican Church is turning its back on a rich tradition; and more important than that, Scripture is being twisted and/or outright denied.
We need to remember those brothers and sisters in the Anglican church who have stayed true to the Word of God and continue to fight for Reformation (knowing full well that the Spirit alone is capable of bringing that work to fruition).

Dr. Riddlebarger,

Who has the best lineup in baseball this year?

Classis must be a busy place.

I think the Tigers have a slightly better lineup than the Yankees.

Should be a fun season.

Rick:

Okay, I'll take the bait. Yes, the Tigers will have a great line-up. Perhaps as good as the Yanks, and certainly better than the Red Sox. The critical factor is Cabrera's weight and his willingness to lay-off the fast-food and donuts.

I still say that right now, the Red-Sox have the best starting pitching, with the Tigers having the weakest bullpen (of the three teams).

As for the Yanks, we have a number of great prospects, but until a prospect actually produces on the field, they are nothing but a prospect. It will be a great year from a fan's perspective.

The wildcard is the fact that this is the Yankees last year in the old stadium. That will surely motivate them. The Torre doldrums are over.

Thanks KR. You didn't have to respond.

I'll be at Comerica Park Friday, May 9 to see the Tigs' play the Yanks - Too bad it's in May and not September.

I guess nobody came back and commented on how the Tigers did last year?

Oh well, there is always this year!
