Who Said That?

"However, contrary to strong Calvinism, in regard to the freedom of accepting God's gift of salvation the Bible is clear:  Fallen beings are free."

Well, it could be anyone who's not a Calvinist, which leaves it pretty wide open. It does sound either Methodist or Catholic, so maybe John Wesley or Benedict XVI? If I have to choose one, I'd say "His Holiness"...

Does he go on and try to give evidence of this assertion either biblically, theologically or philosophically? This topic has been debated since mankind has been able to read and write. It divides the Church and the issue still causes confusion. Another good reason for our responsibility to develope our mental skills.

It sounds like a Catholic to me. I will say Richard John Neuhaus- the former Lutheran Pastor turned Catholic Priest. Probably not though- he would have used Luther in his contrast. Some popular Catholic of his ilk- he uses the words "gift of salvation" which reminds me of the document that went around a decade or so ago between Protestant leaders and Catholic leaders.

It doesn't sound mean enough to be Hunt, so I would guess Geisler.
