Who Said That?

"America is under a biblical curse that can be reversed.  Jerusalem is the final compromise.  If America divides Jerusalem, there will be no forgiveness.  America will tragically end up on the ash heap of history."

Please leave your guess in the comments section below.  Please, no google searches or cheating.  Answer to follow next week.

Definitely John Hagee. Who else would say such a thing?

I forgot about Hal Lindsey. America has plenty of kooks to choose from.

I will refrain from guessing the usual dispensational suspects (Hagee, Robertson, LaHaye, etc.) and instead guess this came from...Jack T. Chick.

I remember reading one of his "Chick Tracts" that condemned the US for not supporing Israel enough, though the above quote seems a little long for inclusion in one of his little comic books.

It could be any number of people, but I'll go with the obvious guess: John Hagee.

"I'll take pop dispensationalism for $20, Alex."

Sounds like the extremism we often hear from him.

This is more goofy stuff which keeps a lot of reasonable people out of Church's these days. I thought Christ's life, death and resurrection was the only basis for curses and blessings in these New Testament times (or this last age). And the gift of faith and repentance is the only instrument to attach to Christ with. These are severe words with no biblical warrant at all unless you misapply and misinterpret some Old Testament passages. They elevate Jerusalem and the land of Israel above the work of Christ. A strange way to interpret the scriptures indeed.

They also have a strange way of looking at nations- as though God providentially judges them according to their attitude towards the nation of Israel. I thought the arena of redemption was in the Church alone not nations governments.

Some dispensationalist who has prophetic delusions about his ministry. I bet he takes himself pretty seriously and has a good amount of people who contribute to his ongoing ministry.

Pat Robertson. He's the one who loves to talk about curses in my experience. But I'm guessing I am probably ignorant of someone who came before him,

Darryl Hart?

I'M going with John Hagee, although as noted there are a number of dispensationalists who could have said this. cats rule.

Since Pat Robertson is already well represented, I'm going to guess Glenn Beck.

Gotta be Hagee.

Dennis Prager? Abe Foxman? Charles Krauthammer?

John Hagee.

He is one, as you or one of your cohorts has famously said, who has replaced the communion table with the American flag whilst waving the national flag of Israel with his left hand.
