I've Seen This Guy in Church!

Every minister has witnessed people nod off in the middle of his sermon.  Hey, it happens.  The spirit is willing and all that . . .

But seasoned preachers know how to respond to those dozing off--there are ways to startle the sleeping beauty, perhaps even making them jump or twitch, thereby betraying the fact to others around them that they were sleeping during a sermon when they should have been paying attention.

Obama either didn't see Biden nodding off, or else his teleprompter doesn't have all the options that I have available to me.

Biden was not the only one nodding off. The pretty black lady behind him was too.

Poor guy, he seems to be the joke in many instances.

So funny! I bet he is terribly embarrassed now, though!

Judging from his track record Biden does not have the ability to be embarrassed. Remember his on-mike comment about the health law being a BFD?

So much of politics is acting...like it or not, and this is a classic case of bad acting. When he was President Bill Clinton could listen to a six-year-old talk about a pet hamster and the look on Clinton's face made it seem like this was the most fascinating thing he'd ever heard. Reagan always had a twinkle in his eye and a half-smile on his face. Biden is more of a regular Joe...when bored he falls asleep.

Of course, if Biden were in a seeker-sentive church the booming sound system, loud clapping, and funny jokes told by the minister in a short sermon would ensure that he would not fall asleep...oh...and the cafe late served by the hospitality crew in the courtyard before the service would ensure that everyone was wide awake!

As for nodding off in church...

A 100 proof Gospel sermon can penetrate a sleeping mind if the ears are exposed to it.

Is that possible, Pastor Kim?

Just wondering.....

Luther went a long way in preventing sleeping during a service. Lutheran liturgy requires one to stand up and sit down every few minutes or so.

Biden is often thought of as that one uncle in most families that can say or do just about anything offensive and just have it dismissed as, "oh well, that's just uncle Joe."

To Will: I think you meant "message" not sermon. Sermon sounds condemning and message is inviting, for that seeker sensitive movement that hasn't worked.
