Review of "Man of Sin"

Man of sin.gifFor anyone who is interested, there's a great review of Man of Sin in the latest issue of Modern Reformation.  The review was written by Keith Mathison of Ligonier Ministries and author of: Dispensationalism:  Rightly Dividing the People of God?; Postmillennialism:  An Eschatology of Hope; and editor of When Shall These Things Be:  A Reformed Response to Hyper-Preterism.

Isn't Mathison a Partial Preterist?

If so, he gave a good review none-the-less.

Yes, indeed. And he's also a postmillennialist, and the author of "Postmillennialism: An Eschatology of Hope."

I, of course, am much more persuaded by Kim's "A Case for Amillennialism."!!!

i realize this is OT, but speaking of the latest MR...i found jerry walls a much better responder than his calvinist counterpart. and i say that wishing it were the opposite!

Hmm, I haven't received my copy in the mail yet (MR that is...)

So the review preview was nice...
I do have to check that book out.

I want to read his first one. I'm reading the reviewed book now and get the impression I probably should've started with the first one. Amazon has it and "The Bible and the Future" together for about $27.50. I am most familiar with dispensationalism, so some of this is new to me. I read R.C. Sproul's book on partial preterism, which was good, but this approach (Ref. Am.) seems closer to dispensationalism. The strongest point I see so far, as a new reader of this subject, is the thesis that the deception is to be aimed primarily at the church. If you think about it, why would one seek to deceive folks who are already deceived (meaning those outside the church)? I recommend "The Man of Sin." Does anyone know if Drs. Riddlebarger and/or Hoekema endorse progressive parallelism in their exegeses of Revelation?

Wow, that happened fast!

Let's see: was it before, during or after the trib?

Fast forward.
