A "Heavenly Rehearsal"

Heaven.jpgDon't make plans for September 15!  The folks in Toronto (who brought us the laughing revival) are at it again.  This time, they are holding a rally entitled "Heaven's Rehearsal."

According to their webpage (Click here: Heaven's Rehearsal - September 15, 2007), "Heavens Rehearsal is a gathering to unite lovers of Jesus in preparation for the day we all stand as one in Heaven before His throne.  Perhaps for the first time in history... in attendance will be worshippers from all nations and generations.  Together, we will follow the protocol and worship that scripture describes.  As in Heaven, there will be no preacher or featured singing group - the honour alone will be given to God. We will worship with the finest musicians, vocalists, and dancers and we, the bride of Christ, will be ushered into the very presence of God.  We believe the impact of Heaven's Rehearsal will pollinate globally and further establish the Kingdom of God."

You can even get tickets through Ticketmaster.  (h.t. Charles Semple).  We Reformed Christians need a big rally like this.  What should it be and where should we hold it?

Theology of Glory 101.

Who says non-glorified Christians need Word and Sacrament to approach God? Let's gather together to see Deus Nudus!

Taking Guidos' humorous suggestion, why not set aside September 15 for a day of preaching and the celebration of the sacraments (and yes, we could even sing!).
If not, I'll try to make a Rush concert as that would likely be of more substance both musically and lyrically.

nice suggestion guys! but i'll stick with my worship service tomorrow. isn't it weird that the way theses clowns describe this "worship" service, is what we Reformed folk describe as true liturgical worship? or is it just me? really.

We could raid the large prisons and let all the criminals go free.
Very confussed CNN religious reporters would give us lots of airtime.
It would be unfair. Our Tronto friends are working very hard, and free grace would be given to sinners who have not worked for it.
HOW UNCHRISTIAN!!!

I wonder which "Jesus" they're loving?

The part about tickets being $20 combined with the "financial giving" invitation speaks volumes.

Sept 15th....What time zone is this based off of? I don't want to be late or early.

Let's see, it's a worship service to rehearse for heaven, but you have to pay to get in?
Talk about Pelagianism in action...

If I live in Toronto I'd be tempted to go there and tell them I don't have to pay, Jesus paid for me. (I doubt I would though.)

Seriosuly though--charging for what is billed as a worship service and a rehearsal for heaven?
Call it a concert & charge---sure. But this is tacky at best.
And it's nowhere near that good.

I'm from Toronto. Criticisms are not the answer and off hand remarks do not edify.

We need prayer.

We already have a heavenly rehearsal every Sunday ... with the preaching of the Gospel and participation in the Lord's Supper. That's as close as we get to it this side of the age to come.

Where should we Reformed hold a rally? A phone booth should do...

Charles Finney would be proud of this event

Yes Will, we need prayer--but something like this also needs criticism.

It needs to be pointed out for what it is.

oh, peggy, don't you know how defeatist that view is? how disenchanted, depressing and disheartening, and, above all, weak. how in the world can words, water, bread and wine ever do the job? sigh.

Amen Peggy! Now, if we could find a church within 100 miles of where we are located at, we'd love to be able to do that. They are all 'goofy' around here! And we long to be with a group of true blue believers who do just what you said in your comment.I lived in Calif. half my life and hated ever day of it, but we'd about give anything to go to a church like the Lord has blessed Kim with. We live in Missouri now. Clean air, no smog, but no church either.....:(

Let's hold a Word and Sacrement rally in Salt Lake City and freak out the Mormons!

This does not appear to have anything to do with the Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship, which started the Toronto Blessing.

Peggy is right, Amen sister. On Sunday we get to hear the word of God and "Taste and see that the Lord is good," when we partake of the scarments.

What else is needed? A revival? That is what Sunday is and what we are sopose to be doing while we read God's word and pray durning the week. But hay what do I know I am just one of those Christians who want's to worship God the right way.

Makes you wonder, what have they been doing up until now?

Where do you get tickets? Through Tetzelmaster?
