Who Said That?

question%20mark.jpgWhen asked "is belief in Christ is needed for going to heaven?"

_______ answered, "That one I'm a little more open to.  I think that it is, as we understand our relationship to God as Christians, it is how we see our way forward, and it is the way.  But, ever since I was little . . . I've asked every Sunday school teacher I've ever had, I asked every theologian I've ever talked with, whether that meant that there was no salvation, there was no heaven for people who did not accept Christ. And, you're well aware that there are a lot of answers to that. There are people who are totally rooted in the fact that, no, that's why there are missionaries, that's why you have to try to convert. And, then there are a lot of other people who are deeply faithful and deeply Christ-centered who say, that's how we understand it and who are we to read God's mind about such a weighty decision as that."

You know the drill . . .  Who said that?  Leave your answer in the comments section below.

In response to Matt's comments, "You're wrong Lloyd, that sounds nothing like Hank." In Hank Hanegraaff's book, "The Bible Answer Book", on page 153, Hank says, "God is not capricious! If we respond to the light we have, God will give us more light." Hank is using a person's response to the given light as a condition to salvation. (This is unscriptural, and Arminian!) He is using General revelation (law) as another way of salvation apart from faith in Christ. (For those that live in the jungle's of Africa and Victorville, that maybe have never heard the Gospel message.)

In reponse to Lloyd.

I have heard Hank many times say that statement about responding to the light we're given. (It's on page 163 in the book you referred to.)

And the times during said statement, I have not thought it to mean what Hillary is talking about; such as in her last line about "who are we to read God's mind about such a weighty decision".

It seems to me she's saying that she believes in another or more ways to heaven than believing in Christ. Hank clearly doesn't affirm this.

Hank follows his line of thought of this idea of God giving us more light, by quoting Acts 17:26-27, which explains and expands upon his concept.
