Who Said That?

“Beyond these models of reconciliation, a theology of mysticism provides some hope for common ground between Christianity and Islam. Both religions have within their histories examples of ecstatic union with God … I do not know what to make of the Muslim mystics, especially those who have come to be known as the Sufis. What do they experience in their mystical experiences? Could they have encountered the same God we do in our Christian mysticism?”
You know the drill . . . Leave your guess in the comments section. No google searches, please!
Yes, the tie that binds is a common experience . . .
This bit of blather comes from Tony Campolo's book, Speaking My Mind, pp. 149-150.

I have no idea if this is a quote from him, but I have heard him so often waxing so "spiritually" eloquent, all the while throwing out the gospel w/ his pious sounding monologues.
Perhaps I am harsh, but have you ever noticed Tony Campolo, cannot concisely answer a question when asked?
I am all for finding common ground, but why can't it be found on, ahem, common ground instead of sacred ground? After all, it's right under our feet, there's a ton of it. What's that about elephants in living rooms? Leave it to western religionists who say things like this to miss again.
