The "Issues, Etc." Crew Is Coming Back to Radio!
Thursday, May 29, 2008 at 07:49AM
Former "Issues, Etc.," host Rev. Todd Wilken (along with his producer, Jeff Schwarz) will be back on Christian radio soon with a new daily broadcast. For more information, Click here: A New Issues Etc. is Arising!
The program will be totally independent, and free (blessedly so) from control of the LCMS "ABlaze" types. It will also be listener supported. This means you'll get confessional Lutheran theology along with Todd's sharp analysis of contemporary issues. As a Reformed guy, I can live with that!
Great to see this come about! Welcome back to Todd and Jeff! We missed you!

Anyway, good news. Unfortunately, I can only bring myself to cross my fingers and turn on Xian radio once a week, Sunday night at 9:00 for "the usual cast of characters."
But he HATES (I can't emphasize that enough) covenant theology. He seems to think that if there is ANY covenant of works EVER, then it allows us to say that we're under a covenant of works NOW. I have tried to engage him on it, and he just sticks his head in the sand. In fact, I heard an Issues, Etc. where he did an interview on covenant theology... but he interviewed a fellow LCMS pastor so that they could badmouth covenant theology together. It was the equivalent a Mike-and-Kim-only White Horse Inn in which they go about trashing a Lutheran doctrine. Doesn't it make more sense to invite someone on the show who holds the position in order to interact with it intelligently?!?
I wish Todd and Jeff the best.
Chris, I too have contacted Todd Wilken regarding his comments strongly denunciating Calvinism, Definite Atonement, Covenant Theology. I actually challenged him to have faculty from Covenant Theological Seminary on the program and talk intelligently about it. I mean, they are right there in St. Louis...
Yet, I loved the show so much better than most Evangelical Christian Radio!
I simply love to hear Wilken analyze preaching!
I enjoy Al Mohler as well commenting on the culture and the church's role in the culture.
