Who Said That?

"Amillennialism is the greatest heresy in the history of the Christian church. . . . It is the big lie."

Whenever I first heard of amillenialism it was by people calling it a heresy on television. I'm pretty sure it was Jack van Impe, but I could be wrong. So that's my guess.

It could also be Tim LaHaye or Pat Robertson, but I'm guessing Jack van Impe.

My first guess was Tim LaHaye but it sounds like something Jack van Impe would say. They have both made lots of money peddling hyper-dispensationalism.

Jack and Rexella Van Impe are the greatest bible teachers ever!

Er, wait, they're just horrible.

Chuck Missler (who considers Revelation's "synagogue of Satan" to be guilty of replacement theology)

or Jan Markel (who considers a-mil-ism to be part of the great end time apostacy).

Hmm. Lots of google hits on "amillennialism heresy", but the only exact match is right here.

Guess I'll just have to wait.

Actually, the associate pastor of my hometown church told me that when I was visiting this summer and told him I'd gone over to the dark side. I suggested that maybe Arianism, or Pelagianism, or semi-pelagianism, or adoptionism, or Gnosticism, or the doctrine of the Judiazers, or Mormonism, or any of the countless health-and-wealth varieties out there might be slightly worse...

I'll guess Hal Lindsey.

Jack van Impe

Dr. Riddlebarger sometimes quotes Lindsey as saying amill is the source of all heresy and anti-semitism...

Yes, Hal Is Alive And Well on Planet Earth...

Sounds like something Dave Hunt would say, but Hal Lindsey would at least think it if not speak it.

I don't follow what dispensationalist say, but I've heard Van Impe and Hagee, and it sure sounds like something they would say. If Hal Lindsey said it, he probably said it calmly without breaking a sweat; Van Impe and Hagee would probably be shooting spit out of their mouths.

I'll go with Chuck Smith

I once heard Jack Graham of Prestonwood Baptist Church say the doctrine of election was the doctrine from Hell, so maybe he would condemn amillennialism strongly as well.
