Who Said That?

"I am convinced in my heart and in my mind that if the United States fails to stand with Israel, that is the end of the United States . . . [W]e have to show that we are inextricably entwined, that as a nation we have been blessed because of our relationship with Israel, and if we reject Israel, then there is a curse that comes into play. . . .  We believe very strongly the verse from Genesis [Genesis 12:3], we believe very strongly that nations also receive blessings as they bless Israel. It is a strong and beautiful principle."

The rhetoric sounds like Hagee, however, the use of "inextricably entwined" is vocabulary beyond Hagee"s usual polemic rants and audience. So I'll guess with the others who said that female US senator (I have no idea who she but it sounds like a good guess.)

"...it's a strong and beautiful principle" - that's a woman's speech. I'm going with the Bachmann guessers.

Lloyd Caddle:

I do not know who made this Monday's infamous quote, but more than a few responders on this list seem pretty sure that it was Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann. Not knowing much about Ms. Bachmann, I looked her up on Wikipedia. She seems to have had some pretty wild two-kindom confusions in during her career in public office, yet this reference indicates that she is a member ofa a WELS congregation.

Now, I recall you saying on another blog site that WELS' hierarchial structure prevents either members or pastors from getting away with heresies like these. Assuming Bachmann was indeed the one who said this, how does she get away with it? At least the Roman church reeled in Pelosi when she was going around telling the public her idea of their doctrine and practice.

It's something I would say if I had the platform. My guess would be either John McTernan, Bill Koenig or David L. Hocking

Michele Bachmann, when she was talking to a Republican/Jewish group.
