Friday Feature -- Hope for Weekend Warriors

With the annual Christ Reformed softball game tomorrow, Bartolo Colon should inspire the elders on to victory.  He jiggles more than most of us do, and if he can still play the game, well then, so can we.

“Alex and I had a conversation on the plane the other day and I told him, for me, the most impressive number is 2,000 RBI,’’ Beltran told The Post. “As a hitter, not too many people can get there and he has done it. I know he has gone through some issues in his career, but at the end of the day you still have to do it, and he has been able to bounce back.

“He’s a humble player. That’s what I see. I think he’s great, he cares about baseball and he wants to do well. He wants the team to win. He really cares, there’s no more you can ask for from a teammate.’’

Richard:

The Yankee insiders have all commented on the way in which A-Rod has conducted himself since his return. He's relaxed, has lost the chip on his shoulder, and is saying and doing all the right things. Makes me wonder who is in his ear--but whoever it is, the change is huge, and positive.

Goes to show how self-destructive the guy has been, and how his stellar career (numbers wise) will always be tainted. What a shame.

A-Rod lost me when he opted out of his contract (at Scott Boros' doing) just as the Yankees were celebrating their 2009 World Series victory. The team was still on the field, for Pete's sake.

The Yank's should have let him go right then and there . . .
