It must have been tough to memorize the dialogue for this film!

Yup, I'm a child of the sixties. First time I heard this song was in an eighth grade English class when we were reading Greek mythology. Our teacher (Mrs. Nygren--a bit of a hippie) played Cream's "Tale of Brave Ulysses" to stir our interest in classical literature. I never did like Greek mythology, but I've loved Cream ever since--not their pop stuff, but the live jams when Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker, and Eric Clapton just let it rip. Jack Bruce died this week at age 71. IMHO, best rock bassist ever. Love the fur hat! This is from a live appearance on the Smothers Brothers in September of 1968.
This is one of my favorite scenes from one of my favorite moves.
In light of the Bullitt car chase video a few weeks back, I thought this was apropos. My wife is worried I'm gonna buy a blue turtleneck and a tweed sport coat.
The "Prophet" Julia and the "Apostle" Emeka in action! Love the ram's horn. By the way, don't let your kids handle hamsters! (h.t. Richard Wolfe)
Well, the old Kirk Cameron "Left Behind" movie has been re-done, this time with everyone's B-movie favorite, Nicolas Cage.
Three take-aways from the trailer.
1). If you are taken in the Rapture, your clothes will be left behind. This means grandma was right--make sure those skivvies are clean.
2). There's no such thing as original sin, since all babies are raptured--presumably because the film-makers hold the Pelagian view that children are born innocent, and are not guilty before God until they reach the mythical age of accountability.
3). I was very disappointed that Third Eagle's "Doom and Gloom" was not featured as the soundtrack (William Tapley's Doom and Gloom)
Derek Jeter was never my favorite Yankee, but I will sure miss watching him play. His last game in Yankee Stadium represents the end of a two-decade long era of World Series championships and perennial trips to the playoffs. In addition to the heroics in the video, it is pretty amazing to consider that Jeter was never once tossed by an umpire from a game in entire his twenty-year big league career.
I would rank him as the sixth greatest Yankee, behind Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio, and Yogi Berra. I saw Mantle and Berra play in person (at the end or their respective careers), but I watched Jeter's entire career, and loved every inning of it.
Steve McQueen in his 1968 Ford Mustang 390 GT 2+2 Fastback, chasing the two "hoods" in their 1968 Dodge Charger 440 Magnum. Great scene!
Some you have asked, why nothing from Tombstone? Here you go!
He's back! And he's watching TV commercials for Antichrist numerology.
I always thought the Antichrist would drive a Fiat--the symbol of a revived Roman Empire.
