Is the Pope Catholic?

Benedict xvi 2.jpg . . . Not much longer if Muammar Gaddafi's son gets his wish.

Tripoli - The elder son of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has called on Pope Benedict XVI to convert to Islam immediately, dismissing last week's apology from the pontiff for offending Muslims.

"If this person were really someone reasonable, he would not agree to remain at his post one minute, but would convert to Islam immediately," Mohammed Gaddafi told an awards ceremony on Monday evening for an international competition to memorise the Qur'an.

Wouldn't Luther and Calvin have fun with this headline!  I'm having a bit of fun with it myself.  Any thoughts?

Everyone:

Would it be better for protestantism, in general, for the Pope to remain "Catholic" or convert to Isalm?

On the one hand, there would be no more Roman Church. On the other hand, Islam would stake even a larger claim in Europe.

Just thinking out loud! ;)

Then he'd be pope-ular amongst the muslims. :)

He might as well. He sure backed down from his position on Islam. Sure beats trying to sit on the fence all the time.

Will American news outlets assume a "tolerant" guise when writing and responding to this?

Why convert to Islam when one can be a pope and publicly kiss the Koran at the same time?

John Paul II got the best of both worlds, and judging from yesterday's spineless apology, Joe Ratz is on his way to do the same.

How about God calling this knowledgable yet stubborn aka "Pharisee" Pope to be converted to the King Christ? That sure would shake Hell, Babylon and Rome for a little something than Pope going over to Islam, the angels would rejoice for this sinner than the demons grinning on His Most Holy Pontiff blah blah blah.

By the way the Rapture Index is at 156.

A gentleman in Florida has made news by claiming to be Christ.

The lack of activity has downgraded this category.

Rick Warren and company have exhausted the limitless suppy of donuts. Soon after two angry men broke into a 20 Days Speed Purpose Driven Life rally and wreaked havoc. This is widely expected to cause an accelerated increase of hatred at christians in general, perhaps preparing for the tribulation.

The Pope didn't actually retract his statement but merely expressed sadness at reactions to it. Who knows what his personal thoughts are? Apparently, there was some reason he brought it up.

Perhaps it's a tactic? Afterall, he's got vested interest in arresting the growth of Islam - especially if it seconds the list of largest religion on earth.

(He could be wearing that dunce-hat just to throw-off the competition, ya think?)

Meanwhile, Islam continues to affirm the implications of the medieval text that is obscure no longer!

Dr. Riddlebarger,

You should try to get on Paula Zahn to talk about your new book. She's had Jerry Jenkins & Joel C. Rosenberg on to discuss theirs. (John Stewart had quite the laugh at that, incidentally.) A novel idea would be to get get booked on Hannity by telling them "The Man of Sin" is the unauthorized bio of Pres. Clinton, and on Air America by telling them the same about Pres. Bush. Kidding. I'm enjoying the book, and look forward to its predecessor.

Why not ask the Dahli Lama to convert while we're about it? Think of the calming, soothing influence he'd have...

"....the calming, soothing influence...."

The way I read the above words, I felt like I had a lizard running on my back.

Dr. Riddlebarger,

Seeing comments about Islam and your book on eschatology, I would love to hear your thoughts on Islam's role in the end times. If the anti-christ isn't a literal man, could he be a system, such as Islam? We are certainly dealing with the Spirit of Anti-Christ. With all the references to Babylon in Revelation, I was just thinking. Do you have any thoughts on this?

So yeah, speaking of the man of sin and the antichrist, who is that pictured on the cover of your book, Kim, and is he happy about that???
