A number of you (who know that I am an avid Yankees fan who can't wait for opening day) have asked me about the possibility of the Yanks getting Johan Santana in a trade. It won't happen. It makes no fiscal sense for the Yanks. Santana will either stay a Twin this year, or will be traded to the Mets--not the Yanks or the Red Sox. Click here: Santana not worth the tariff - MLB - Yahoo! Some dunderhead in the Solicitor General's office thinks "unrestricted" gun-ownership constitutes a "threat" to public safety and that it is "reasonable" to restrict such private ownership at the government's pleasure. Here's yet another reason for me to hate the nanny state. As long as I can own a gun (or two) I am a free man. Click here: WorldNetDaily: National firearms ban 'reasonable'?
This will come as no surprise. The Episcopal Church is making a concerted effort to remove any remaining conservative bishops. We all know how tolerant theological liberals can be! I see I'm not the only one who is still nervous about Mike Huckabee's confusion of the two kingdoms (using the pulpit to promote his presidential candidacy). His use of identity politics to carve out an evangelical voting block unto himself is pretty cynical. Oh well, looks like his candidacy will be over soon enough. We need to remember those brothers and sisters in the Anglican church who have stayed true to the Word of God and continue to fight for Reformation (knowing full well that the Spirit alone is capable of bringing that work to fruition).
Who has the best lineup in baseball this year?
I think the Tigers have a slightly better lineup than the Yankees.
Should be a fun season.
Okay, I'll take the bait. Yes, the Tigers will have a great line-up. Perhaps as good as the Yanks, and certainly better than the Red Sox. The critical factor is Cabrera's weight and his willingness to lay-off the fast-food and donuts.
I still say that right now, the Red-Sox have the best starting pitching, with the Tigers having the weakest bullpen (of the three teams).
As for the Yanks, we have a number of great prospects, but until a prospect actually produces on the field, they are nothing but a prospect. It will be a great year from a fan's perspective.
The wildcard is the fact that this is the Yankees last year in the old stadium. That will surely motivate them. The Torre doldrums are over.
I'll be at Comerica Park Friday, May 9 to see the Tigs' play the Yanks - Too bad it's in May and not September.
Oh well, there is always this year!
