Some Interesting Links on a Friday . . .

Links.jpgSo, the archbishop is "shocked" that his comments about Sharia law created so much controversy.  Get a clue.  A number of C of E clergymen are calling for his resignation.  An MP quipped that Williams doesn't know his business--hardly a compliment.  Maybe a call for his resignation is too much.  I'd start with a call for him to get a shave and hair-cut.  As my sons would say:  "dude, trim those eyebrows."  Click here: BBC NEWS | UK | UK Politics | Williams 'shocked' at Sharia row

I thought today's evangelical leaders had some political savvy, but this one I just don't get.  Dr. James Dobson waits to endorse Huckabee until its almost impossible for the Huckster to win.  Click here: Christian Leader James Dobson Endorses Huckabee for GOP Nod - You Decide 08!

CT has a great article on Carson/Beale's new and indispensable reference tool, Commentary on the New Testament Use of the Old TestamentClick here: Two Testaments, One Story | Christianity Today | A Magazine of Evangelical Conviction .

Finally, my loyal friend Andy is now a statistic.  He's a pooch with a pouch.  And he's not alone.  (It must have been a slow news day @ Reuters).  Click here: Estimated 17 million U.S. dogs overweight or obese | Lifestyle | Living | Reuters

I can't decide whether the archbishop should be referred to as a heretic or apostate. Has he ever proclaimed the true and only Christian faith? Seems perfectly reasonable, and necessary, to push for his resignation. The Via Media is no place for me.

Dobson's petulant all-or-nothing approach continues. The sorry thing is that so many people hang on his pronouncements. One principle lost in this confusion of kingdoms is that politics is the art of the possible, not the ideal. I'm not in line with McCain on everything but given the alternatives...

Dobson endores Huckabee? One more reason not to vote for the Populist candidate.
Let's go McCain.

For some excellent comments, from an Anglican Evangelical, on the whole debacle surrounding Rowan Williams' lecture see the pieces by John Richardson at:

http://ugleyvicar.blogspot.com/

As I say on that blog, as an Anglican minister I think that Rowan Williams should resign, not because of what he has said, but because of what he didn't say: he made no attempt to give a Christian view of law, and spoke from a "religous" perspective, not a "Christian" one. Personally, I don't think he will resign immediately. But he seems to have lost the trust of almost everyone- many of the liberals who welcomed his appointment now hate him- and there is a real possibility that he will resign after the Lambeth conference in July. Please pray for the appointment of his successor, and for all of us who stand for the gospel in the Church of England. (For more on what to pray for see www.churchsociety.org)
