A Bad Week for Preachers and Other Interesting Stuff from Around the Web

It has been a very bad week for preachers, their wives, and their posses.

Apparently, Mrs. Osteen threw a snit on an airplane and now faces a lawsuit for "assaulting" a stewardess.  If the stewardess wins a judgment, no doubt she'll experience her "best life now."  Click here: FOXNews.com - Flight Attendant Sues Wife of Evangelist Joel Osteen Over Alleged Air-Rage Incident - Local News | N

Here's a preacher who was late to church, so he pulls out a gun and threatens another motorist in a fit of road rage.  I wonder what the sermon was supposed to be about that morning?  Click here: FOXNews.com - 71-Year-Old Ohio Preacher Convicted in Road Rage Case - Local News | News Articles | National News

For those of you who know Orange County, you know of "Set Free" and the Christian biker posse they founded.  Well, "Set Free" has gone from a name to a desperate hope.  About 150 cops and FBI agents descended upon their communal homes (not far from Christ Reformed) and busted a bunch of them (along with some Hell's Angels from across town) due to a bar-room brawl and a knife fight which left several seriously injured.  The neighbors are all terrified of this "Christian gang" and their "chief" Phil Aguilar.  The church-friendly Anaheim police call this a biker-gang masquerading as a church.  Click here: News: 150 officers swoop down on Christian biker gang | warrants, street, schmidt, four, anaheim - OCRegister.come

Say what you will about Jan and Paul Crouch and their heretical theology.  They have nearly 1 billion of assets--and no debt.   They are the eighth largest owner of TV stations in the world, and their outreach is truly global.  They've turned Pentecostalism into a force with which to be reckoned.   Click here: God’s quid pro quo? - OC Watchdog - OCRegister.com

Hmm . . . Did co-pastor Victoria do it, or didn't she? I guess we'll have to wait and see how the court rules.

However, I can't help but think that I've never shoved a flight attendent, and providentially, I've never had a flight attendent feel the need to sue me for doing so.

Funny how that works, isn't it?

I gotta go with Victoria on this one... she is SUCH a babe.

Jan and Paul Crouch will probably have Phil Aguilar on after he gets out of jail, and they will talk about how poor Phil is being persecuted for Christ.

Also, the Cincinnati preacher in the road rage incident is a pastor of the "First Commandment Church." His sermon might have been called, "The blazing of the Holy Spirit." Perhaps, he can do a joint service with the pastor that rode his dirt bike into the crowd. They also might consider using the pastor that picks up the rattlesnakes, to pass around the offering plate, while holding his pets.

What a sad state of affairs!

The claimant against Mrs. Osteen, is also suing for medical payments, including stress and hemorrhoids! Sounds like a crock, for sure.

Whether Mrs. Osteen is guilty or not, maybe Tru.TV (formerly Court.TV) will air the proceeding of the trial. They could call it something like "Your Best Conviction Now" or maybe "Becoming a better Convict".

It seems like something similar to this happened to Robert Schuller several years ago. Flying first class. Mixed it up with a steward.

Maybe these people need to avoid first class. Too much gang related violence up there. ;)

I saw that story come up on the AOL Welcome screen and I had to get right over to the Riddleblog because I knew it would lead here, too...<grin>

Must of not been thinking good thoughts that morning, eh Osteen?

I didn't know Phil Aguilar was back in Anaheim! The Register is not always friendly to Christianity, but Set Free cannot be a church in any Biblical sense.

A packing preacher, holstered yet! Probably has few problems fund raising.

You don't have to wait for a ruling to know whether Mrs. Osteen did something or not. She was investigated and fined, and she paid it. Exactly what happened I don't know, and I don't really care. What bothers me is the flight attendants lawsuit in which she's seeking millions and claiming she now has anxiety and hemerrhoids due to the incident. Perhaps we should check some video of her waliking to see if she has a weird way of walking due to her condition.

As for the Crouch family, they've built an empire upon the money of widows, heretics, the uneducated, the low income, the dying and suffering seeking healing, the misguided, and foolish Christians who actually think that TBN is doing the work of God. How sad that many with little money "sow a seed of faith" (money) expecting to "reap" more than what they gave. The financial prosperity of these people reminds of the Psalms in which the writer asks God, why do the wicked and ungodly prosper?

Why am I not at all surprised that Mrs. O breaks down in tears on the stand? You can't buy publicity like this.

Yeah, you're right, the Osteen case stinks on both sides.

Notable but not particularly surprising, that in today's update on the Osteen trial from AOL, Joel's picture is captioned identifying him as preaching "a less sanctimonious more inclusive message", Good thing they don't claim to be fair and balanced.

DSY, What are you thinking? She is cute so she couldn't be guilty! When does looks matter? It does seem like a stretch.

As for Phil Auiglar, he has moved around more than any person I know. I even hear he tried to move Set Free to lake Ellsinore, but Calvary Chappell got the town to put a stop to that. All I can say is the police over reacted. As for Solders for Christ and Phil, what were they even doing in that bar? If they have people in the homes coming from prison, ex-gang bangers and ex-bikers they need to so allot of restraining.

But what am I saying, Phil always did it his way and that is why Anaheim cops and officials don't like him. I can understand as I was at what he called a church for five years. Not a true Biblical church in any sense. It is a sect or was, nor I would have to say it is looking more like a cult them anything else.

May God have mercy on his soul
