These are Iranian snipers in ghille suits.  They just look like wookies.   Replace the AK-47's with a bowcaster and they are ready for the next Spielberg movie.

Iranian soldiers march in protest after discovering the side effects of their newest weapon, the Rogaine bomb. Unfortunately their march was cut short when a landscape worker drove his riding mower over them. The worker was cited as saying, " I just watched "Hairspray" on cable last night and thought this was some sort of grass roots uprising, I guess I lost touch with reality for a few minutes."

ranian Army uses FR-F2 French Sniper rifles. They are extremely accurate up to 800 meters, but not very effective in long range.

The AK47s in the picture are actually AKMs "automatic rifle Kalashnikov modernized" (Автомат Калашникова Модернизированный). It is an upgraded version of the AK-47 rifle. I don't know why the sniper are carrying them... This photo may have been taken during a parade. FR-F2s look like weapons from 1930s. The Iranian officers probably did not want to be embarrassed by the French rifles.
French legionnaires are using the FR F2 in Afghanistan though.
