This Week at Christ Reformed Church (August 20-26)

Sunday Morning (8/26):  I'm back . . .  I'm beginning a new sermon series on the Gospel of John.  My text this week is John 20:30-31, and I'll be giving an introduction to this wonderful gospel.  I would encourage you to be reading through this gospel as we tackle sections of it week by week.

Sunday AfternoonProfessor Samples will be conducting the catechism service this Lord's Day.  Our afternoon service begins @ 1:15 p.m.

The Academy:  The Academy is on hiatus until mid-September.  But when we resume, we'll begin with a four week discussion of two important books.  The first book is Ross Douthat's Bad Religion (Click Here).  The second is James Davison Hunter's To Change the World (Click Here).  If you plan on attending, it would be a good idea to purchase these books in advance and begin reading them.

I am looking foreward to this book. A tip of the hat to the Reformed theologians for their willingness to stay confessional from the time of the Reformation but a zeal to develop their theology beyond it,

I am referring to Reformed Covenant Theology, a great teaching which takes a person through the Bible using the Covenants of Redemption, Works and Grace.

The book of John should be heavy on the biblical teaching on the Covenant of Redemption.

I am certain that Pastor Kim will licking his chops at the opportunity to teach that aspect of it in the book of John!

Both of those books are terrific, especially deep and perceptive is the Hunter book.
Hey, Lloyd, the Diamondbacks especially stink this year. But the best part is: NO MORE GRACIE AND SUTTON! YES! An answer to prayer!
