Christ Reformed's Eighteenth Anniversary

One of our first trial worship services in Michael Horton's living room in Anaheim

Our first Sunday in the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Anaheim (our current location)

A picture taken on a recent Sunday (note: the banners and big screens belong to our hosts)

You are cordially invited to join us on Sunday (October 27th) as we celebrate the Protestant Reformation (our text is Galatians 1:1-9) and the eighteenth anniversary of the founding of Christ Reformed Church (there is a cake and coffee reception following our morning service).

But where's the little Lutheran church you guys had in Placentia circa 1997? It's where my evangie jaw dropped from first encountering real and robust Reformed worship.

Zrim:

For some reason, I don't have a decent picture from the old ELCA church we rented for three years. I'll ask around and see if I can find one

Interesting stuff. Congratulations on 18 years! Does Christ Reformed currently lease space from another church? I had assumed you owned a building.

We worship in the Anaheim Seventh Day Adventist Church (and have since 1998). They are great landlords and this is about the only "for rent" church facility large enough for our congregation.

To buy (and renovate), or to build in this neck of the woods will cost millions of dollars. So as long as the relationship works for both congregations, we are perfectly happy to stay where we are.

Happy anniversary, and may you have many more.

I remember that old termite infested church in Placentia. At least we had hot running water, didn't we? It was a challenge to keep that church maintained and spiffy for Sunday service but it was all good. Thank God at least we had a place to worship in.

I see Connie in the front just to your right in the picture of the "trial" service. What a great day.

Some around these parts have been reading your OC evangelical history with interest. Please email me.
