A Fashion Statement

fashion statement.jpgOne of my Lutheran friends sent this to me with the following caption:

"The man on the left, wearing a fabulous vintage chiffon-lined Dior gold lame gown over a silk Vera Wang empire waisted tulle cocktail dress, accessorized with a 3-foot beaded peaked House of Whoville hat, along with the ruby slippers that Judy Garland wore in The Wizard of Oz, is worried that The Da Vinci Code might make the Roman Catholic Church look foolish."

As a former Catholic this makes me laugh a lot. It's just the tip of the ice berg in all that is foolish in the RCC.

There's no place like Rome, there's no place like Rome, there's no place like Rome...

Make that 2 former Catholics who are amused by this.

I don't think it's the da Vinci Code that makes him look foolish. ;-)

And to think that a "fashion statement" is the best thing RC has going for it...

I loved the "There's no place like Rome..." lines.

Here's another:

"To Rome, to Rome ... it's off to works we go..."

I suppose a scarecrow reference would be considered ad hominem. So I'll refrain.

you should not mock the holy father. He is a stalwart for the christian faith.

"you should not mock the holy father. He is a stalwart for the christian faith."

Eh? Who was mocking the Holy Father? He's in heaven with His angels and Christ... ooohhh you mean the Roman Catholic Bishop of Rome... I don't think anyone was mocking him, at least not today. Kim was making light of his dresswear however.

I highly recommend you read Holy Scripture: the Ground and Pillar of our Faith and then return with your thoughts on the matte.r

I thought that would be the strawman fallacy...

A stalwart for the Christian faith? Let's see... a faith that compels people to fall down before idols, a faith that exalts a 'Mary' that is nowhere to be found in Scripture... I think the very LEAST thing we can do is laugh at that stupid outfit. The heresies of the Roman Whore are no joking matter, so the 'Pope' and his bunch had better breathe a sigh of relief that all we are doing is laughing at the clown-suit he wears in the name of his false christ.

Isn't it rich?
Isn't it queer?
Pomp is the Papacy's love;
God's Word he does fear.
And where is the clown?
Quick send in the clown.
Don't bother ... he's here.

Keeping with the Wizard of OZ theme. The songs "Follow the yellow brick road" and "We'rrre off to see the Wizard" seem to fit.

Actually, it says in 1Ti 3:15 "But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is THE CHURCH OF THE LIVING GOD, THE PILLAR AND GROUND OF THE TRUTH."

It seems the Church is the pillar and ground of truth...

Yes, The church is the pillar and buttress of truth. As in: The true Church upholds the God breathed truth provided in scripture as their standard. Not popish rites and human traditions in place of the truth. Paul is simply saying that the Church proclaims, defends, practices the Truth that IS the Gospel of Christ and contained in the doctrines laid out through apostolic authority. Which is now FULLY CONTAINED IN SCRIPTURE.

Your argument also presupposes that Rome can lay any claim to the title: THE CHURCH OF THE LIVING GOD.
