Friday Evening (8/28) Ken Samples begins a highly-anticipated Academy Series, "Learning Skills 101: Learning How To Learn (Part 1)” using Adler's great book "How to Read a Book." Saturday Morning (8/29), Christ Reformed is holding a summer picnic (10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.), which includes a silent auction with some really cool stuff (the proceeds go to our benevolence fund) and a softball game between the deacons and the elders. August 29 is also my birthday and I hit the big "55." I'll be an official "geezer" and suddenly all the debate over health care reform seems much less theoretical. I can't wait to beg the death panel for a few more days.
