Left Behind, the Remake

Cloud Ten Pictures recently announced that they have reacquired the rights to the Left Behind movie franchise.  That can only mean one thing.  Cloud Ten will do a remake of the original Left BehindLeft Behind remake

Cynic that I am, the question did occur to me, "why would anyone want to redo such a stellar move?"  There's only one real answer--money.

There were so many great moments in the original film.  Left Behind features T. D. Jakes (via videotape in the film), explaining what to do if you've been left behind--imagine that, a modalist, explaining the rapture.

The movie also has a track record of prompting thoughtful theological discussion.  I once heard two Christians debating whether or not the scene in which those raptured left their clothing behind meant that medical devices (like artificial hips) would likewise remain behind after the rapture.  That might be a source of embarrassment for some . . .

Of course, if true, this confirms the sage advice of grandma.  Always make sure you are wearing clean undies.  You know, just in case . . .

Ugh. Great. Another movie to tell all the Christians out there that Christ is definitely returning to possibly secure a place in Heaven for them, *IF* they manage keep from losing their salvation for another 1000 years.

I can't believe I used to believe in that stuff.

", with top level cast, writers, and production from the word „go"

top level cast? Time to speculate? Who'd make a good Man 'o Sin? Somebody unexpected maybe, like Andy Griffith or Jonathan Winters.

I remember laughing out loud at the original, when it was shown in an adult Sunday School class during a class about Revelation.

We just got back from Sedona. I was worried that my car would be taken during the rapture and we would have to walk back to Phoenix.

Just make sure you don't miss your car payments and it shouldn't get raptured.

What 'bout transplants? If a organ donor is a Christian, will his liver or kidney be wretched from an unbelieving recipient come rapture?
