As long time readers of this blog know, I am an avid Yankees fan, I've written a book on the antichrist, and I have always marvelled at the ability of Bible prophecy pundits to adapt their old eschatology books to new geopolitical situations.
In light of this, I thought I would try a new angle to sell an old book.
If there is a sports "Antichrist" it might just be A-Rod. Consider the evidence. After saying he wanted to remain a Yankee for life and remain part of the "evil empire," without warning A-Rod opted out of his gazillion dollar contract at the very moment the Yankees' arch-rivals (the Red Sox), were about to win the 2007 World Series. Poor form to say the least.
He then signed a new ten-year deal with the Yanks (who remarkably bid against themselves in the process), of which five years remain at the obscene amount of 25 million per annum. Dumbest thing the Yankees have ever done!
Repeatedly, A-Rod's been tied to starlets of varied notoriety, as well as ladies of questionable reputation. Accusations of PED use have come up several times (once that he admitted, and again just recently in association with the Biogenesis clinic in Miami). And then there was that weird picture of him staring at himself in a mirror.
Yankees fans want nothing more than to be rid of him, but likely that won't happen any time soon. The player's union will protect him to the bitter end. Maybe MLB will suspend him. Who knows.
As for the prophecy angle, doesn't the Book of Jasher predict a figure like this? What about the Sibylline Oracles? Nostradmus? Anything?
BTW--Thanks Matt for the photoshop work!
