Behold the Lamb of God

Who is Jesus, and what was his ultimate mission? Some today say that he was a kind of philosopher or moral reformer who teaches us all to share our toys and behave on the playground of life. But these views presuppose that the human predicament is that we simply need a little advice or enlightenment, and not something drastic like eternal redemption from sin, death, and hell. On this edition of White Horse Inn the hosts will continue to unpack the first two chapters of John’s gospel and will point out the significance of Christ’s role as the “lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.”

Dr. Horton will be our special guest on Friday, January 25, to discuss his book (how it came to be written, how he organized it, etc.) and to answer any questions about the book you may have.

This Week at Christ Reformed Church (January 14-20)

Sunday Morning (01/20/13):  I am preaching through John's Gospel and we will be covering John 4:43-54 and Jesus' healing of the official's son.

Sunday Afternoon:  I am leading our afternoon catechism service which begins @ 1:15 p.m.  We will be covering Lord's Day 51 and discussing the petition in the Lord's prayer "forgive us our sins."

Wednesday Night Bible Study (1/16/13):  We return to our series on the Lord's Supper, and we will be looking at those New Testament passages in which the Supper is discussed.

The Academy:  The Academy will resume on Friday January 25 (@ 7:00 p.m.) when we continue our of discussion of Michael Horton's theology text The Christian Faith.

An Introduction to the Gospel of John

It’s probably the most famous book in the Bible. John’s gospel is portion of Scripture we often recommend first to new Christians, and it’s led more people to Jesus than just about any other document. But even though it so plainly sets forth Christ to the beginning reader of Scripture, its treasures can’t be exhausted throughout the course of any person’s life. For the next few months the hosts will be mining the riches from this amazing text, and through this study we hope to deepen your understanding of, and love for, the person and work of Jesus Christ.

This Week at Christ Reformed Church (January 7-13, 2013)

Sunday Morning (01/13/13):  We are continuing our series on the Gospel of John and I will be preaching on the second part of Jesus' discussion with the Samaritan woman in John 4:27-42.

Sunday Afternoon:  I will be leading our afternoon catechism service which begins @ 1:15 p.m.  We will be covering Lord's Day 50 and discussing the petition in the Lord's prayer "give us our daily bread."

Wednesday Night Bible Study:  Will return on January 16, when we continue our series on the Lord's Supper.

The Academy:  The Academy will resume on Friday January 25 (@ 7:00 p.m.) when we continue our of discussion of Michael Horton's theology text The Christian Faith.

What should we say when a Bible study leader asks the question, “What does this verse mean to you?” How do we know if we are interpreting the Bible correctly? Sunday Morning (01/06/13):  We are returning to our series on the Gospel of John and I will be preaching on the first part of Jesus' discussion about living water with the Samaritan woman in John 4.

Sunday Afternoon:  Lord willing, I will be leading our afternoon catechism service which begins @ 1:15 p.m.  We will be covering Lord's Day 49 and discussing the petition in the Lord's prayer "thy will be done."

Wednesday Night Bible Study:  Will return in January when we take up our on-going series on the Lord's Supper.
